At the June 15, 2009 meeting the Church Council adopted a Five-Year Development Plan for Londonderry United Methodist Church. The plan was created in direct response to the Vision Statement which the Council adopted in September 2008. Over the months since that Vision Statement was adopted, the Council engaged in a very intentional planning process to develop a plan to achieve the vision.

The plan is not intended to be a comprehensive accounting of every activity that LUMC will undertake for the next five years. Rather, it focuses on change – a relatively small number of key areas where we will seek to make significant forward progress.  

The plan is intended to be a living document, with most of the initial content addressing the next couple of years. The Church Council will monitor progress toward each goal every quarter, and make any needed adjustments along the way. Some of the goals set in the initial plan will result in more detailed plans and new goals.

Very briefly, a few of the key focus areas are:

• expanding external and internal communication programs;
• developing a stronger small group program;
• providing leadership training;
• expanding hands-on mission programs and participation; and
• developing a comprehensive plan for expansion of church facilities.
