Scout Sunday
On February 12 LUMC will celebrate Scout Sunday. 2012 is a special year for the Girls Scouts as they celebrate their 100th Anniversary in the U.S.A. Girl and Boy Scouts (and adult leaders) are encouraged to wear their uniforms to service this day as we honor and celebrate the scouting movement in the U.S.
Our Mission of the Month for February is the Hattie B. Cooper Community Center located in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Center is dedicated to helping individuals develop the qualities needed to become responsible and caring citizens. To achieve this, the Center offers a variety of program activities and support services designed to assist in the educational, emotional, physical and social development of the people in the greater Roxbury community, regardless of race, religion, ethnic or economic background.
The Hattie B. Cooper Community Center was founded nearly 100 years ago as a part of Boston’s Settlement House Movement in the early 1900s.
